I wanna be Your hands, I wanna be Your feet. I'll go...

Saturday I joined a group doing homeless ministry in Kensington. One of the worst places in Philly. The Lord taught me that prayer is just as important as physical labor. In the unlikely event that they have too many volunteers, they ask women to pray. I was in the prayer group and wondered if I was truly helping. God taught me more how to be a Mary rather than a Martha that day. Both are necessary, but this time the Mary role was more important for me to fill.

Putting up the tree(s).

This Christmas I set up a couple trees with friends. The cat found the tree box and hopped in. I gave her a kiss :-)

Christmas Cheer?

How can I give at Christmas without making someone feel obligated to give back?

Can't I just give because I WANT to?

Something is wrong with Christmas when we expect gifts and presents... when we feel bad that someone got us a gift and we did not get them one.

Can we out do the gift we gave last year? Times are tight this year...

Maybe this Christmas we should:

Give to the poor.
Love without expectations.
Share without regret.
Simply give of what we are capable.
Share the true meaning of Christ-mas. +

How Great Our Joy

Church on Sunday reminded me of whom the Lord first reviled His glory to when the Christ child was born............ Shepherds. The shepherds in that day were bad, dishonest thieves, unworthy of even testifying in court. They were like gangsters with a job. :-) The Lord's glory was revealed to these people. They were so overwhelmed they went straight to Bethlehem, a small city, and found Joseph and Mary and the Christ child and testified of the glory that was revealed. "Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests", the heavenly host said. The shepherds proclaimed the message they heard with great Joy! How much more should we, oh ye of little faith, proclaim the message of Christ's birth with great joy?! We have been revealed through God's word and the Spirit of what we can testify.

I was playing through Christmas hymns tonight and was reminded by a friend of how I can be joyful even in our world of heart ache and difficulty. Our God is our peace and joy! HE is the GOOD Shepherd. I will share the favorite hymn with you:

While by the sheep we watched at night,
Glad tidings brought an angel bright.
How great our joy! Great our joy!
Joy, joy, joy! Joy, joy, joy!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!

There shall be born, so He did say,
In Bethlehem a Child today.
How great our joy! Great our joy!
Joy, joy, joy! Joy, joy, joy!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!

There shall the Child lie in a stall,
This Child Who shall redeem us all.
How great our joy! Great our joy!
Joy, joy, joy! Joy, joy, joy!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!

This Gift of God we’ll cherish well,
That ever joy our hearts shall fill.
How great our joy! Great our joy!
Joy, joy, joy! Joy, joy, joy!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!
Praise we the Lord in Heav'n on high!

Ever wonder how a blonde paints her nails?

Very creatively.

She is late for work, but still wants her nails manicured with pink polish ;-) Taking with her the nail polish solution in the car, she promptly starts the car with the air going (hot or cold, makes no difference). While she sits in the car, it running and the air flowing, she paints her nails in her driveway. As she drives to work, they dry under the vents that shoot at the steering wheel.
Presto! Manicured nails!! ;-)
