Majesty

Psalm 8

"O LORD, our LORD,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who have displayed Your splendor
above the heavens!"
(verse 1)

This photo was taken from a twin engine plane I was in recently traveling to Vermont. Not until I was on the ground did I come across this Psalm and God allowed me some insight on His inspired word.

(Read the rest of Psalm 8 in NASB version)

This Psalm of David uses Adam theology. The LORD's name written in the earth and the heavens. His work created them and in them are the span of infants and nursing babes to the moon and the stars. Though all is majestic, the LORD put men at a place a little lower than God. And allowing man to rule over His works, man has a crown of glory and majesty. Even still, the LORD, our LORD, bears His majestic name throughout all the earth. How awesome that I got to see that first hand this past weekend on a plane ride to the green mountains of Vermont.

Fairy tales...

I've been reading and reflecting on some books I read in college. One of which is from my "Great Christian Writers" class. We studied a variety of Christian writers and read their works. There was one writer in particular that I did not understand, and was at first, a bit turned off. We had studied his book of "Fairy Tales". My bias simply came from neglecting to delve into them ever before, and to me, unfamiliar territory is much less inviting. Stories of kings and queens, princesses, fairies and creatures unknown to our eyes darted out at me from the page. I soon over came my fears of the unknown and began enjoying this lovely set of tales from the Great Christian writer: George MacDonald (1824-1905).

An excerpt from George MacDonald's CROSS PURPOSES in the book "The Complete Fairy Tales".

Background: Children Richard and Alice are lost in Fairyland
"In a moment they were in total darkness. Alice clung to Richards arm, and murmured, almost against her will, 'Dear Richard!' It was strange that fear should speak like love; but it was in Fairyland. It was strange, too, that as soon as she spoke thus, Richard should fall in love with her all at once. But what was more curious still was, that, at the same moment, Richard saw her face. In spite of her fear, which had made her pale, she looked very lovely."

Not me too!

Persuaded by popular demand? No...

I LOVE THESE LYRICS!

Magnificent

Magnificent
Magnificent

I was born
I was born to be with you

In this space and time

After that and ever after I haven't had a clue

Only to break rhyme
This foolishness can leave a heart black and blue

Only love, only love can leave such a mark

But only love, only love can heal such a scar

I was born
I was born to sing for you

I didn't have a choice but to lift you up
And sing whatever song you wanted me to
I give you back my voice
From the womb my first cry, it was a joyful noise ...

Only love, only love can leave such a mark

But only love, only love can heal such a scar

Justified till we die, you and I will magnify

The Magnificent

Magnificent

Only love, only love can leave such a mark

But only love, only love unites our hearts

Justified till we die, you and I will magnify
The Magnificent

Magnificent

Magnificent

Perspective

Suburbia Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
~Today I had a bad day. My alarm didn't go off, I was running late. I quickly showered, applied my makeup and slipped into my business wear along with my new heels from my favorite boutique. I looked good... well, good enough. Running into the kitchen, I grabbed the bread and sandwich meat. Maybe a granola for a snack? "Huh... better take the fruit." Made it to work's parking lot. "SHOOT!" I said as the tray of brownies for bake sale that day almost came tumbling to the ground. Hoping they don't notice the couple I ate this morning apart from my breakfast, I gathered myself together and attempted to look presentable. "Darn heels." My stiletto stuck between the sidewalk. I sighed "Almost there!!"

Slums Mumbai, India
~Today I had an alright day. Hearing the rooster when the sun came up woke me. Removing myself from the rubbish that surrounded me, I stepped in line for the water dripping off a near by gutter. I was awake, I was alive. I was good. A new dump truck frequented the area, and I knew just where to find him. Scurrying over heaps of trash, I found were my breakfast awaited. I looked here and there, knowing God would answer my prayer. After what seemed like an hour, I found food... or what looked like food. There was no getting around tearing my shirt when I leaped from a rusted old truck in the slum. I was only happy I didn't get cut. Last week my friend did. Rust got to his blood. He didn't live long. "Now, I'll wait 'til noon when the sun's over the East. Maybe those God sends will come today". Last year they gave me a hair cut. I walked half a mile towards where I thought they would come. I sighed "Almost there."
