"Because we live in a fallen world, we are not born into connection. It has to be gained, and it is an arduous, developmental process. Without going through that process of bonding, we are doomed to alienation and isolation. not only do we not grow, we deteriorate.
Physicists have a graphic way of describing this situation. They call it the law of entropy. According to this law, in a closed system such as our universe, the available energy is gradually being used up. As available energy decreases, disorder increases. Without energy from the outside, our universe will become 'running down' because of this law. The sun, and many other stars that fill the universe, will eventually, one after the other, cool down to dark masses, their energy scattered throughout space, no longer available. They will have reached what physicists call 'maximum entropy.'
In the psychological and spiritual spheres, this law operates dramatically. If a person in left alone, her world will become more and more chaotic. She will reach maximum entropy."

Really interesting! It seems to reming me of 2 Cor 4:16-18 ... how though outwardly we are wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed. Community is so vital but in post-college life it's a lot harder to foster that community. Hope you're doing well!
That's so true, thanks G.!
